Who are we:

Launched in August 2020, Black People United (BPU) is a collective of volunteers who are dedicated to organizing mutual aid networks for the Black communities in Calgary through the exchange of acts of care. Our collective was formed as a response to seeing how our community was being heavily affected by the pandemic and amidst the social movements taking place throughout the globe. We wanted to do our part and make a difference. We believe in radical love and the power of the people to care and support each other.

Our Goals:

To build a chamber of Black volunteers and encourage our community to take responsibility for caring for one another.

To develop a network of mutual aid through the partnership of all operating Black organizations in Calgary. By working together to share our resources, knowledge and abilities we can better serve our community.
